Diploma in Civil Engineering (EC110) has been started in 1967. Along the years, the Diploma in Civil Engineering has been expanding to a wider scope of engineering programme which are, EC111 (Construction) and EC112 (Building Services and Maintenance) that being offered at UiTM Cawangan Perlis, UiTM Shah Alam, UiTM Cawangan Pahang, Jengka Campus, UiTM Cawangan Sabah and UiTM Cawangan Sarawak, Kota Samarahan 1 Campus. In 2013, dynamic changes have been made by faculty in order to ensure the relevancy of the programme and the quality of programme delivery and graduates were adhered with the standards and requirements. The faculty has decided to re-structure the Diploma in Civil Engineering programme by maintaining EC110 programme only. The programme needs to be aligned with the industry requirements and the global issues concerned such as the marketability of the graduates. Thus, only four (4) UiTM branches are responsible to offer this programme, which is UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, Permatang Pauh Campus, UiTM Cawangan Pahang, Jengka Campus, UiTM Cawangan Johor, Pasir Gudang Campus and UiTM Cawangan Sarawak, Kota Samarahan 1 Campus.
The field of civil infra- structure systems builds an extend to the
traditional civil engineering areas. Rather than focus on individual structural components or structures, civil engineering infrastructure systems emphasizes how different structures behave together as a system that serves community’s needs.
Infrastructure is the basic physical systems of a business or nation; examples are transportation, communication, sewage, water and electric systems. These systems tend to be high-cost investments; however, they are vital to a country's economic development and prosperity.
Civil Engineers expect to have an exciting career in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Highway Engineering, etc.
Master of Science in Forensic Infrastructure Engineering (CEEC708) is a program that focuses on strengthening knowledge and improving the skills of investigating structural and infrastructure failure cases. In order to produce graduates who can master knowledge in the field of forensic engineering, the curriculum formed has taken into account all the basic and advanced knowledge required to become a forensic engineer in the field of civil engineering (infrastructure). This program will expose students to the latest technology and modern software used in the process of investigating the causes of failure.
The application of elements of law and code of ethics in certain courses can also provide students with an understanding of the judicial process and professional liability when litigation occurs as a result of a lawsuit due to a dispute that cannot be resolved as the consequence from the structural/infrastructural failure. The curriculum emphasizes on critical thinking which encourages graduates to generate new solutions in whatever challenges they faced.
