Diploma in Civil Engineering (EC110) has been started in 1967. Along the years, the Diploma in Civil Engineering has been expanding to a wider scope of engineering programme which are, EC111 (Construction) and EC112 (Building Services and Maintenance) that being offered at UiTM Cawangan Perlis, UiTM Shah Alam, UiTM Cawangan Pahang, Jengka Campus, UiTM Cawangan Sabah and UiTM Cawangan Sarawak, Kota Samarahan 1 Campus. In 2013, dynamic changes have been made by faculty in order to ensure the relevancy of the programme and the quality of programme delivery and graduates were adhered with the standards and requirements. The faculty has decided to re-structure the Diploma in Civil Engineering programme by maintaining EC110 programme only. The programme needs to be aligned with the industry requirements and the global issues concerned such as the marketability of the graduates. Thus, only four (4) UiTM branches are responsible to offer this programme, which is UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, Permatang Pauh Campus, UiTM Cawangan Pahang, Jengka Campus, UiTM Cawangan Johor, Pasir Gudang Campus and UiTM Cawangan Sarawak, Kota Samarahan 1 Campus.
Programme Educational Objectives are designed in line with the University's Philosophy, Vision and Mission to align with the requirement of Programme Outcomes (POs) made by MOHE. There are four (4) PEOs implemented and practised in Diploma in Civil Engineering that is consistent with the vision and mission of the IHL/faculty and stakeholders' requirements.
PEO | Description |
PEO 1 | Civil engineering technician who is competent in applying knowledge and practical skills in civil engineering and pursuing further knowledge for higher qualification. |
PEO 2 | Civil engineering technician who able to apply various scientific skills in solving variety civil engineering problems. |
PEO 3 | Civil engineering technician who able to demonstrate good teamwork, social skills and responsibilities with positive values, ethics, moral and professionalism. |
PEO 4 | Civil engineering technician who able to lead and demonstrate effective information management, lifelong learning and entrepreneurial skills. |
FKA UiTMCPP has developed a list of 12 Programme Outcomes (POs) for the Diploma in Civil Engineering (CEEC110) describing what students should know and able to attain by the time of their graduation. These POs refer to the general attributes of knowledge (cognitive), skills (psychomotor) and behaviour (affective) that students must acquire through an engineering programme by ETeAC. The POs which are in line with ETeAC Standard 2020 incorporates well-defined engineering problem that has been implemented through the course assessments. Upon graduation, students should be able to:
PO | Description |
PO 1 | Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to wide practical procedures and practices. |
PO 2 | Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity. |
PO 3 | Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. |
PO 4 | Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements. |
PO 5 | Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations. |
PO 6 | Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technician practice and solutions to well defined engineering problems. |
PO 7 | Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts. |
PO 8 | Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice. |
PO 9 | Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams. |
PO 10 | Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend the work of others, document their own work, and give and receive clear instructions |
PO 11 | Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member or leader in a technical team and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments |
PO 12 | Recognize the need for and have the ability to engage in independent updating in the context of specialized technical knowledge. |
