| Teaching Philosophy Statement |
| I believe that a lecturer must be able to be a teacher and also acts as a facilitator to students. I am responsible to teach the the fundamentals of the subject that I am responsible in. Acting as a teacher, I am responsible to providing them the basic knowledge of the subject and also present them with relevent examples. These examples are important in order to expose student towards problem solving and the application of the theory that they have learnt. My main objective in teaching is to make sure that they have strong bacis of the engineering subject and being able to apply them the various kinds of problems. As a facilitator, I give them the freedom in ways to gain knowledge in the civil engineering field and I help them with the understanding. They can refer to various types of books and references to gain extra knowledge and types of problem solving. The working experience has made me realize the importance of strong fundamentals and basic knowledge of engineering in order to face the great challenges in the real world. Therefore, as a lecturer, I am responsible to teach them the engineering subject and also share the working experiences with them. This is important in order to prepare their mind towards the working environment and also to motivate them to be the best engineers. As a students, they are responsible to be in good discipline. A good engineer must be rich in knowledge as well as their attitude. This includes punctuality, hardworking and has the ability to obey instructions properly. I also encourage them to ask the questions in class and seek for information in the library for which aspects that they do not understand. This is also one of the important aspects to prepare a student to face the working environment later on where there will be no lecturers to guide them anymore. This is to train them to have the initiative to find the solution of the problem. As a lecturer, I am looking forward to produce excellent students and also excelllent engineers later that could help to develop our country. Therefore, in order to achieve my goal, I have to strive hard in order to be an excellent trainer and guide them towards success. |
