| Teaching Philosophy Statement |
| My philosophy of teaching is based on belief that learning needs to be student centered and that students need to be equal partners in learning process. Teaching is a process of instilling the concepts and necessary skills for life-long learning. Being an educator, I have learned from my own experience since the moment I became a student until this very moment of my career as a lecturer. I believe that experience if the mother of all knowledge whereby you be able to improve yourself to make learning becoming more interesting |

| As a lecturer, my goal is to share my knowledge, focusing on subject matter in my area of expertise, using current teaching tools available. I strive to personally model this using my professional experience in the real world. I would practically use active learning for my teaching method whereby students have to be active in classroom. I want to provide a classroom environment where students are encourage expressing their own ideas and participating in their education experience. I present students the fundamentals of the subject, real world example and group discussion to deal with any issue discuss. From this, student will experience a hands-on practical application of learning process. I also want my students to enjoy the interaction in my classroom and making learning becoming fun. I believe course such a civil engineering require a lot of patience when delivering the lecture since some of the topics are hard to digest by students because it involves technical problem solving. That is why student participant in classroom is crucial in making the delivery successful. My goals in teaching are not just to promote learning of the subject matter. I also try to help the students to think logically, learn problem-solving methods and techniques, explaining step-by-step processes and providing valid reasons for logical arguments. In addition, I try to help students by providing an open-door service where students can come and see me in my room for extra help. Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has given me an opportunity to work with future generation of engineers and a leader. I am very thankful for this opportunity. There are still long way for my career in academia since I am still new in this field and will strive for better future not only for myself but also for my students. |
