TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Teaching Philosophy Statement
Engineering is in a state of challenges as a result of global innovation and and the evolution of new knowledge and skills consequent from the new definition of job skills. Curriculum of engineering with specialized knowledge that integrate soft-skill attributes (e.g., problem solving, interpersonal-communication, teamwork, societal responsibility awareness, creativity, etc.) are essential. To achieve this aim, we must always encourage students to think independently through application of interdisciplinary research or project-based engineering. This eventually build confidence in students to become entrepreneurs in starting their own technology-based business or become ultimate managers of emerging technology. Involvement of student in project-based research funded by industry can trained them to form multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams to design, build and test a product that meets the requirements of suitable customer. All these demonstrations of learning competencies obtained and gained by students in their documented learning portfolios are important as it offer employers evidence that the student gained the desired valuable knowledge, skills and attributes of an engineer and can satisfy immediate productive work requirements. In conclusion, responsibility of a lecturer should be a need for more integrated, holistic interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to engineering education. As a lecturer we must work hard and set our mind to meet the challenges ahead.

TEACHING GOALS

Teaching Goals Statement
Encourage students to think independently and creative in application of interdisciplinary research or project-based engineering. Build confidence in students to become entrepreneurs in starting their own technology-based business or become ultimate managers of emerging technology.
